About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Finance to join our team. The VP of Finance will influence high-impact decisions and initiatives undertaken by the company, giving the individual a key role in shaping Selfbook's growth. Working closely with the CEO, this role will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust financial strategy that supports rapid growth while maintaining the financial stability and sustainability of the organization. The ideal candidate for this position should possess comprehensive knowledge and expertise in various facets of financial management, including accounting, investment, and banking operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Define and set financial strategy and targets in line with the company's vision and growth plans. Oversee the financial planning and budgeting processes, including capital allocation and cash flow management.
  • Financial Leadership: Oversee all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization, in conjunction with the CEO. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and best practices, particularly GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), to maintain accurate financial records and reports.
  • Performance Management: Establish and maintain a set of comprehensive tracking and analysis systems to monitor the company's financial performance. Identify trends and recommend actions based on sound analysis.
  • Investor Relations: Develop and maintain positive relationships with investors and financial institutions. Effectively communicate the company's financial status, opportunities, and risks to investors and other stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage company risks and investments with a deep understanding of the global financial market and its implications on the company's operations.
  • Team Development: Take ownership of leading, motivating, and developing the finance function, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. With future growth in mind, establish plans for hiring and building out a capable finance team to support the company's evolving needs.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive financial discipline and efficiency across the organization.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in accounting standards, applying relevant knowledge to drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of senior-level finance or business experience in the fintech and payments industry, with specific experience in SaaS and transactional revenue models.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices, including a sound understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and familiarity with local regulations in accounting and taxation.
  • Strong understanding of international finance, including currency management and the global financial market.
  • Demonstrable expertise in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, demonstrating the initiative to drive impactful changes throughout the organization and the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Proven experience in a high growth environment with the ability to scale operations globally.
  • Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate financial strategies and performance to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced degree in finance, business, or a related field strongly preferred. CPA, CFA, or other relevant certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and financial management software, such as QBO and SAP.
