About the Role:

Collective is looking to hire a Senior Accounting Manager to help build a world class finance & accounting team!

This will be a foundational role that will help the company scale efficiently and set the company's finance department for success in the future. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a role that is both operational, but also strategic as we are constantly thinking about how to shape and set goals for the finance department.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of key accounting functions
  • Review month end reconciliations, expense accruals and other accounts as part of our close process
  • Work closely with the Philippines' General Manager to help draft and propose accounting policies and procedures to help scale the department and company
  • Partner cross-functionally with other departments to execute on company wide initiatives and be able to think through ways to improve on processes
  • Assist in the administration of our financial operations softwares such as QBO, Ramp, Stripe, Collective Accounting, Xero etc. desirable
  • Support in ad hoc projects and be able to work collaboratively within finance and other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that books handled by the Accounting teams meet required specifications for accuracy, completeness, and tax compliance.
  • Act as problem solver for complex Accounting issues.
  • Give advice to Accountants on complex bookkeeping questions
  • Standardize and formalize accounting processes to ensure consistency
  • Review that explanations and documentations were obtained from members (customers) to justify entries in the general ledger, based on requirements provided by tax department (sample basis)
  • Ensure each team are performing uniformly, and consistently across the month
  • Assess, on a sample basis, the quality of individual books
  • Meet Accounting Service Level Agreements set by Management for the Accounting teams and ensure the SLA’s are appropriate. Constantly review and update
  • Apart from Philippines' General Manager, be the main contact with the tax Department to resolve issues on a monthly basis
  • With other Senior Manager in the team be responsible for monitoring SLAs for teams
  • Ensure Desktop Procedures are in place and accurate
  • Investigate unexplained variances in members books
  • Accountability for team discipline under the direction of HR and Philippines General
  • Lead team training and meetings
  • Manage Accounting team. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team.

What we want you to bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • 8+ years of experience as an Accounting Manager or similar role, preferably in a fintech space or startup/fast-paced environment.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of 10 Accountants
  • Strong knowledge of US accounting principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
  • Expert in cloud accounting software and systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Hurdlr) desirable
  • Hands-on experience in managing client relationships (inquiries, escalations, etc.)
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor, hire, train and motivate a team.
  • Proven track record in delivering projects
