About the Role:

  • Ability to call state departments, analyze federal and state documentation and websites - no experience needed, we train you.
  • Assist the Onboarding Accountants to quickly move members through the training flow
  • Be a strategic problem solver, using a deep analytical mindset to navigate bureaucratic processes.
  • Navigate SalesForce and other software, always asking the question: what is the source-of-truth documentation behind the data I am looking at?

Responsibilities:

  • Employer Registrations with States - No Experience Needed, We Teach You!
    • Follow documented steps to register LLCs as employers with their state.
    • Troubleshoot roadblocks.
    • Update documentation.
    • Analyze poorly written state websites and develop strategies to solve problems.
    • Call state department representatives to solve problems.
    • Interface with co-workers before and after you in the flow to improve the process.
    • Manage the solution process and communication between members, state representatives, gusto staff, and collective staff.
  • Setup Gusto Shell Accounts
    • Follow documented steps to set up Gusto shell accounts for clients.
    • Troubleshoot roadblocks.
    • Update documentation.
  • Setup QuickBooks Shell Accounts
    • Follow documented steps to set up Gusto shell accounts for clients.
    • Troubleshoot roadblocks.
    • Update documentation.
  • Handle State Correspondence/Notices
    • Review state correspondence and notices received via email or reported by clients.
    • Report notices to Gusto and work with their support team to resolve the issue.
    • File missing tax/wage reports with the state
    • Update tax rates/account ids in gusto
    • Keep the clients informed of the progress.
  • Participate in team activities, meetings, and share best practices.
  • Passion for supporting entrepreneurs and the self-employed.
  • Effortlessly switch between repetitive tasks and complex analysis.
  • Constantly innovate to increase capacity.

  • Ability to distill complex concepts and educate clients.

Bonus points if you have: (Optional)

  • Any experience running payroll of any kind on any platform.
  • Basic understanding of payroll and bookkeeping.
