About CashBook
CashBook is a YC W21-backed profitable fintech startup building UPI-based expense management for Indian businesses. We issue UPI wallets to business employees, replacing petty cash and reimbursements with tracked, controlled digital payments. We have 3500+ businesses using our wallets.
We’re a small, high-ownership team where everyone wears multiple hats. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where your work has direct, visible impact, read on.
The Role
We’re looking for a Finance Operations Executive to help run CashBook’s day-to-day finance operations and keep our internal finance processes clean, accurate, and on schedule.
This is a broad finance ops role that sits at the intersection of bookkeeping, reconciliations, compliance coordination, reporting, and cross-functional execution. You’ll work closely with our internal team and coordinate with our external CA to make sure the right data, documents, and follow-ups are always in place.
Because we build for finance and accounts teams, this role also gives you a front-row view into the workflows our product is solving. Your day-to-day experience handling reconciliations, invoicing, compliance coordination, and accounting operations will directly inform feedback to the product team. If you care about improving not just processes, but also the software behind them, this role gives you that opportunity.
You won’t just be processing entries. You’ll help keep the finance engine running smoothly, while also helping us build a better product for finance teams.
What You’ll Do
Finance Operations and Bookkeeping
- Own day-to-day bookkeeping in Tally and ensure entries are accurate and up to date.
- Manage vendor invoices, payment processing, and reconciliations.
- Reconcile payment gateway settlements, bank statements, and ledger entries.
- Prepare and maintain internal MIS reports and finance trackers.
- Help keep finance data organized, reliable, and ready for review at all times.
Invoicing, Compliance Readiness, and CA Coordination
- Set up e-invoicing of B2B invoices.
- Maintain accurate GST-related records, including GSTIN details and billing information.
- Coordinate with the external CA for GST returns, TDS-related follow-ups, year-end closing, and statutory compliance.
- Ensure the CA has all required statements, invoices, contracts, and supporting documents on time.
- Track compliance calendars and follow up proactively so no deadline is missed.
- Support PT and PF-related processes, including documentation, coordination, and employee-related queries.
Cross-functional and Operational Support
- Work with internal teams to resolve finance and documentation gaps quickly.
- Flag mismatches, missing records, or process issues early and help close them.
- Share feedback and insights from day-to-day finance operations to help improve CashBook’s product for finance and accounts teams.
- Support occasional customer-facing accounting integration work, especially around Tally plugin setup and basic troubleshooting.
- Help customers troubleshoot accounting software integration issues across Tally and Zoho Books on an as-needed basis.
What We’re Looking For
Must-have
- B.Com, M.Com, or equivalent qualification in accounting or finance.
- Around 2 years of hands-on experience in finance operations, bookkeeping, reconciliations, vendor payments, or compliance coordination.
- Strong working knowledge of Tally ERP/Prime.
- Comfort with Excel for reconciliations, reporting, and data cleanup.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with invoices, entries, portals, and operational follow-ups.
- Comfort using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar for day-to-day productivity. We’re an AI-first team and expect everyone to use these tools to work faster and smarter.
Good to have
- Solid understanding of GST processes, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, e-invoicing, and reconciliations.
- Basic understanding of TDS workflows.
- Familiarity with PF and Professional Tax processes.
- Experience at a startup or at a CA/accounting firm serving startups.
- Exposure to payment gateway reconciliation across Razorpay, Cashfree, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with e-invoicing via IRP portals such as IRIS, NIC, or Clear.
- Understanding of UPI transaction flows and fintech operations.
- Familiarity with Zoho Books or similar accounting software.
What Kind of Person Thrives Here
- You’re proactive and don’t wait to be told what to do next.
- You like owning operational workflows end to end.
- You are comfortable working directly with leadership and asking questions when something doesn’t add up.
- You care about clean records, accurate reporting, and zero-surprise execution.
- You can coordinate across internal teams and external partners without things falling through the cracks.
- You can explain finance-related issues clearly to non-finance teammates.
