How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Strategic Influence - Your team's work will drive critical business and product decisions across the organization, with direct access to and influence on the executive team.
  • Player/Coach - With a small initial team, you'll dive into the data yourself and work with stakeholders to understand, prioritize, and deliver on their needs in addition to building out and managing the team.
  • Breadth of work - Managing the centralized data team, you'll be charged with providing insights across multiple domains:
    • Credit Analysis - Your team is a key partner with our Risk and ML teams to drive insights on credit risk factors for potential customers and help determine data-driven underwriting strategies driving the profitability of the business. If you have previous experience analyzing income statements and balance sheets or interacting with predictive underwriting models, that will be a big advantage (but not required).
    • Customer Economics - Your team leads projects to drive insights on customer level business metrics, such as estimating customer lifetime value.
    • Product Analytics - Your team analyzes product usage to help us understand our customers better and works closely with Product on how to improve customer experience.
    • Embedded Analytics - Your team will conduct research and provide suggestions for how to best expose analytics and forecasting to our end users as a product offering.
  • Team Building - You will hire, mentor, and manage a team of analysts, ensuring a strong team culture amongst talented and productive analysts. You'll refine the team's working model with stakeholders to balance domain expertise, personal growth, and effective knowledge sharing.

What Sets You Apart

  • Customer-centric and data-driven mentality. You care about the user, both internal and external, and build to solve their problems. You aren't satisfied just building dashboards and pulling numbers but get deep into the why, seeking to mine insights out of the data to identify problems and opportunities and make recommendations to the business on how to improve our products and business operations.
  • Technical skills. You write your own SQL including familiarity with more advanced functions (ie window functions). You have worked with source controlled repositories like Github before. You understand data modeling concepts and best practices like dimensional modeling and have experience enabling end users with BI/Visualization tooling. While it’s not required, knowledge of Python and data analysis libraries (pandas, numpy) is a plus. Our data stack today primarily features Postgres (production), Fivetran (ETL), Snowflake (Warehouse), DBT (Transformation), and Metabase (BI/Visualization).
  • Leadership and Team Management. With rapid growth, we need and expect everyone to be a leader. You have the humility and self-awareness to understand and navigate the unknown. You hold yourself and your team accountable to a high bar and love helping people produce their best work. You enjoy mentoring and growing the skills and careers of others. You identify needs and blockers and advocate for your team.
  • Adaptability. We’re a startup and project needs can change quickly. You’re someone that loves to jump into a new problem, learn what’s needed, and solve it. You know how to juggle competing priorities and stakeholders with limited resources to maximize the team's impact.
  • Experience - 5+ years of experience as an analyst and 1+ years as a people manager with hiring experience preferred. Bonus points if you have experience with credit/underwriting. Background in either Math, Stats, Economics, or Accounting preferred.

Compensation

This role has an annual starting salary range of $150,000 - $205,000 + equity + benefits. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to your individual skills and experience.
