About the RoleSalsa is looking for a Payroll Onboarding Manager to lead the critical task of onboarding and migrating new businesses to our payroll platform. This is a hands-on role requiring meticulous attention to detail, expert payroll knowledge, and a knack for solving complex data challenges. You’ll be responsible for ensuring a seamless transition for businesses, managing mid-year payroll data migrations, and evaluating risks associated with new customers. Based on your experience, this role may involve managing a team to scale these operations.

Responsibilities
- Payroll Data Migration: Access previous payroll providers or work with provided reports to accurately map year-to-date payroll data for each employee and resolve unpaid tax liabilities for the business.
- Risk and Fraud Evaluation: Assess onboarding businesses for risk and fraud, investigate anomalies flagged by our risk systems, and escalate issues as necessary.
- Process Development: Define and optimize the onboarding processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Team Leadership: Grow into a leadership role by building and managing a team to support onboarding and migration functions.
- Collaboration: Partner with sales and customer support teams to meet tight onboarding deadlines and ensure a smooth transition for new businesses.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain exceptional attention to detail to ensure error-free onboarding, leveraging advanced spreadsheet skills to handle complex payroll data.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of unpaid tax liabilities and tax deposit schedules
- 4+ years of experience with payroll, including hands-on experience with payroll data migrations, specifically working for a payroll provider.
- Strong payroll background in 50 states, prior payroll support experience.
- Proficiency in working with complex spreadsheets (e.g., advanced Excel/Google Sheets formulas such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation).
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate risk and investigate anomalies.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality, accurate work.
- Experience managing people or a strong desire to grow into a leadership role.
- Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.

- High proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, Zendesk, etc
