Job Description

Overview:
The Head of Collection & Recovery at indiagold will lead and manage a robust collections and recovery framework for the retail lending division. This role is designed for an experienced professional in financial services with deep expertise in collections and recovery. The ideal candidate will develop and implement strategies that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements while driving indiagold's growth in retail lending.

Key Responsibilities:

Collections Management:

  • Strengthen Collections Function: Lead the development and enhancement of the collections team by hiring and training staff, and creating processes, policies, and procedures for the retail lending vertical.
  • Policy & Risk Management: Ensure the effective execution of collections policies and risk management strategies to optimize portfolio performance.
  • Strategy Review & Improvement: Continuously evaluate collections strategies, policies, and procedures, providing recommendations to senior leadership for improvements.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire, manage, and guide collections managers and officers to meet and exceed overall recovery targets.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across risk, operations, legal, analytics, and business to streamline collections and underwriting processes.
  • Credit Team Feedback: Offer data-driven insights to the credit team to enhance credit policies and manage portfolio NPA.
  • Recovery Targets: Drive efforts to meet monthly recovery targets at the pan-India level, coordinating closely with zonal teams.
  • Performance Reporting: Present portfolio performance updates to the CEO and board directors, ensuring transparency against quarterly and annual targets.

Agency Management:

  • Vendor Relationships: Establish and manage relationships with outsourced collection agencies across India to improve resolution rates for pre-write-off accounts and collections on 90+ day write-offs, optimizing costs.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Regulatory Communication: Work closely with relevant teams to manage external communications and respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies such as the RBI.
  • Compliance Adherence: Ensure that all collection activities adhere to regulatory standards, the company's code of conduct, and industry best practices.

Skills:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing and motivating large teams.
  • Strategy & Policy Expertise: In-depth experience in formulating and executing collections strategies and policies.
  • Financial & Budget Oversight: Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Analytical mindset with the ability to make informed decisions based on data insights.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance requirements within financial services.

Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 12+ Years in Collections & Recovery: Extensive experience in collections and recovery, preferably within NBFCs, banks, SFBs, or financial services companies.
  • Proven Leadership in Large-Scale Operations: Demonstrated success in managing large-scale collections operations, particularly in retail lending.
