Why Join AngelList

We’re solving some of the hardest problems in venture capital and private markets. You’ll work with a team that values precision, urgency, and long-term thinking. If you want to shape how startups are funded and built, this is the place.

About AngelList

We exist to accelerate innovation by increasing the number of successful startups in the world. We do this by building the financial infrastructure that makes it easier for more people to invest in world-changing companies.

AngelList is the nexus of venture capital and the startup community. We support $171B+ in assets and have powered investments into over 13,000 startups—over 300 of which are unicorns. Today, 57% of top-tier U.S. VC deals involve investors on AngelList. While our scale is large, our ambition is larger.

If you're excited to build the future of private markets, come build with us.

About the Role:

Nova is building the banking and payments network for private markets. Fund managers, fund administrators, and investors use our software to manage subscriptions, capital calls, and distributions. Nova currently supports $1.2B+ in deposits, $100M+ in weekly transfers across six bank integrations, and ~150k verified investors. These transactions are among the highest-stakes moments in private markets. Customers move real money and expect every detail to be correct. Consistent accuracy is how Nova earns and keeps the trust of GPs and LPs.

If you're a Senior Software Engineer who wants direct product impact, Nova Product gives you the opportunity to own high-stakes customer workflows end to end. The team builds domain-specific workflows on top of our money-movement and identity systems, including distributions, capital calls, digital subscriptions, data rooms, and the emerging LP wallet and investor portal. You'll take difficult workflows from an ambiguous problem through launch and operation. The team will rely on you to get the details right because one incorrect number or failed payment can erode customer trust.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and ship complex workflows for distributions and capital calls, subscriptions, data rooms, and the LP wallet and portal. You'll own meaningful parts of this work end to end.
  • Take difficult problems from design through release and operation. You'll handle the edge cases and the long tail, not just the initial launch.
  • Build for correctness, resilience, and strong UX where real money and investor trust are at stake. Help catch predictable failures before they reach customers.
  • Model complex business domains and build maintainable systems and abstractions that your teammates can extend.
  • Improve the team's work through thoughtful code reviews and design feedback, and mentor other engineers.
  • Work with Product/Design and the Foundations teams to integrate product features cleanly with their money-movement and identity systems.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years building backend or full-stack web applications, including meaningful experience with complex, quality-critical products where correctness matters to users.
  • Senior-level impact. You've owned significant features or systems from an ambiguous problem through launch and operation, and your team relies on you to get difficult work right in your area.
  • A record of shipping sophisticated product surfaces and improving their reliability and quality.
  • Strong architecture and data-modeling skills. You can model complex, evolving business domains and keep systems maintainable as they grow.
  • Fluency in a modern TypeScript stack, or clear evidence that you'll ramp quickly. You're comfortable with a GraphQL API, PostgreSQL, and workflow orchestration with Temporal.
  • Comfort working in a startup environment. You can handle ambiguity and maintain quality while keeping pace with a lean team that ships quickly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fintech, payments, or another high-stakes domain where correctness and trust are non-negotiable.
  • A record of taking greenfield product areas from zero to one and scaling mature ones.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and workflow orchestration, such as Temporal or a similar system.
  • Experience working with platform or infrastructure teams whose systems your product depends on.

How Success Will Be Measured

  • The workflows you own across distributions, subscriptions, and capital calls are consistently error-free and increasingly self-service. For example, your work contributes to 95%+ of distributions completing end to end without manual intervention.
  • You ship meaningful parts of Nova's greenfield payments, wallet, and identity surfaces on a clear, coherent architecture that the team can extend.
  • Your parts of the product integrate cleanly with Foundations' systems and remain maintainable as they scale.
  • Your reviews, designs, and mentorship help other engineers make better technical decisions and move faster.
